How has motherhood changed you?

For me, it changed everything. I was a dietitian long before I became a mother and I thought I knew what "healthy" was. I ate all the vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats; I lifted weights; my labs looked great! I thought having a baby would be no big deal. And at first, it wasn't. My pregnancy was great, I truly loved being pregnant. Postpartum, I was not okay. Anxiety set in, I felt run down, and physically, I felt broken.

The demands of motherhood are no joke. Sleepless nights, an immense pressure to do everything "right" for your sweet baby, your patience being tested as they turn to toddlers, let alone all the day-to-day work - then, let's add another baby to the mix! It's hard stuff!

It's even harder when you're running on fumes.

Think back - did you take the time to deeply nourish yourself before conception? Were you eating nutrient-dense meals throughout your pregnancy? Did you even have time to eat postpartum?!

Most of us would say "no" to those - myself included for my first pregnancy. I suffered for it postpartum. My hair shed in clumps for well over a year, my cycle didn't return for 19 months, and the year after my daughter turned one, she and I each suffered fifteen+ colds. We were miserable! And so depleted.

Once I realized how inadequately I'd been feeding myself, I got to work. I dove into the data to figure out what I'd been missing; turns out, it was a lot! After just a few months of targeted nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle changes, my hair stopped falling out, my cycle returned, I stopped getting sick, and I got pregnant with our second baby right away. I went on to have a thriving pregnancy with great energy and minimal symptoms, and moved through postpartum feeling confident, at ease, and energized.

When talking with many women, the common theme is that pregnancy was physically more demanding than they anticipated, and postpartum wrecked them. These effects sometimes lasted years!

I want to help you bounce back. No, we're not talking about fitting back into your pre-pregnancy jeans (though we will be working on getting your metabolism back in order). I mean bounce back in energy, health, and feeling functional again. Being able to be present for your family again.

With my experience as a Dietitian and education in functional medicine, I work to address you as a whole person, re-build your nutrient stores from the ground up, and get you on a path to whole-body healing.
